play your steam games. get paid from game coin fees. here's how.

pilot · sign-up works · payouts off

what is playtime?

playtime pays people for playing their steam games.

a game gets its own coin. every time someone trades that coin, a small fee is paid. those fees go into a pot, and the pot is shared between the people who actually play the game.

people trade the coin→fees fill the pot→players get paid→more players, more attention→more trading

so the people trading the coin end up paying the people playing the game.

how it works

  1. 01

    sign in with steam

one click on steam's own site. we never see your password.

  2. 02

    connect your wallet

sign one message in phantom to prove the wallet is yours. no transaction, no cost.

  3. 03

    pick a game

choose a steam game you play that has a coin and a pot.

  4. 04

    play it

your public steam hours and achievements for that game set your cut.

  5. 05

    fees fill the pot

every trade of the game's coin adds fees to the pot.

  6. 06

    get paid

your cut of the pot goes to your wallet. you can see your share and when it pays out.

where the money comes from

from the creator fees of the game's coin. that's it.

  • every trade of the coin pays a small creator fee.
  • those fees are collected on chain and go into that game's pot.
  • only fees that really came in get paid out. nothing is promised ahead of time.

it's not steam money. none of it comes from steam, valve, or game sales. it's not a fixed yield either: if nobody trades the coin, the pot stays small.

how your cut is set

each game has its own pot, and only that game's players share it. your cut depends on:

whathow it counts
hours playedyour public steam playtime for that game. more hours, bigger cut.
achievementsachievements you've unlocked in that game add to your cut.
being verifiedyou only count once your steam account and wallet are both linked.

the exact weights for each game are set and published before that game goes live. your steam game details need to be public so your hours can be read.

what's live today

playtime is a pilot. here's exactly what works right now:

partstatus
sign in with steamlive
connect phantomlive
games with a potcoming no games are live yet
fee collectioncoming no coin is collecting fees yet
payoutsoff nothing gets sent during the pilot

signing up now gets your steam account and wallet linked, so you're ready when the first game goes live.

is it safe?

your steam account

you sign in on steam's own site (steamcommunity.com). playtime only gets your public steam id back. we never see or store your password.

your wallet

phantom asks you to sign one plain message that proves the wallet is yours. it's not a transaction: it can't send, move or approve anything, and it costs nothing.

one wallet per account

each steam account links to one wallet. changing it is locked for now.

playtime will never ask for your seed phrase, your private key, or your steam password. anyone who does is not us.

for games and coins

games are added one at a time. each one gets its own coin, its own pot and its own published rules for how hours and achievements count.

if you run a game community or a coin for a steam game and want a pot for your players, reach out. more on how games get added before the first one goes live.

faq

do i need to buy the coin to get paid?

no. you get paid for playing. you just need a linked steam account and wallet, and play time in a game that has a pot.

when do payouts start?

once the first game and its coin are live and fees have come in. during the pilot, payouts are off.

do i need to own the game on steam?

yes. your hours and achievements are read from your steam account, so you need to play it there.

my hours aren't showing up

set your steam profile's game details to public (steam → profile → edit profile → privacy settings). private hours can't be read.

which wallet do i need?

phantom, on solana.

is this run by steam or valve?

no. playtime is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or run by valve or steam.

is there a token?

not yet. only trust a contract address posted on this site.
